Terms of Service
The rules of using BoardSim. Read these before signing in.
Effective May 12, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using BoardSim (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Southern AI Systems ("we", "us").
2. What BoardSim is
BoardSim is an independent, AI-driven educational simulator for preparing for the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) Standardized Oral Examination (SOE). BoardSim is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the American Board of Anesthesiology, Inc. BoardSim is not affiliated with any residency program, medical society, accrediting body, or hospital. References to "ABA®", "American Board of Anesthesiology®", "Standardized Oral Examination", and related marks are used under nominative fair use solely to describe the examination for which this independent tool prepares candidates.
3. Educational use only — not medical advice
BoardSim provides clinical scenarios and discussion intended only for the educational preparation of board-eligible physicians and trainees. Nothing in BoardSim constitutes medical advice, a clinical guideline, or instruction for actual patient care. Do not rely on BoardSim to make clinical decisions. Always consult current peer-reviewed literature, departmental protocols, and licensed professionals when treating patients.
4. No exam credit, CME, or certification
BoardSim does not award:
- CME credit (it is not currently ACCME-accredited)
- AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™
- MOCA® 2.0 points or any ABA Maintenance of Certification credit
- Any form of ABA certification
- Any official preparation guarantee for any exam
Use of BoardSim does not guarantee passage of the ABA Applied Exam, the ABA SOE, the ABA OSCE, or any other certification examination.
5. Access codes and invite-only beta
BoardSim is currently in private beta. Access requires either (a) use of the free intro case (available without authentication) or (b) a valid access code provided by us. Access codes are non-transferable unless we explicitly state otherwise. We may revoke access codes at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to:
- Sharing the code publicly or with parties we have not invited
- Using the Service to harvest, scrape, or republish content
- Attempting to reverse-engineer or attack the Service
- Any breach of these Terms
6. AI-generated content
The simulator's "examiner" is powered by a large language model (currently Anthropic Claude). AI-generated content can be incomplete, inaccurate, out-of-date, or in rare cases dangerously wrong. We curate cases against current published guidelines and textbooks, but we make no warranty that any specific response from the AI examiner is correct, current, or appropriate for any clinical situation. You acknowledge and accept this risk.
7. Intellectual property
All clinical scenarios, source code, user interface designs, and copyrightable material on the Service are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, scrape, or republish content from BoardSim without prior written permission, except for your own personal study and the limited fair use of generating and sharing your personal Performance Report PDF.
Trademarks and service marks of third parties (including the ABA) are used under nominative fair use and remain the property of their respective owners.
8. Limitation of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR EXAM OUTCOMES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY UNDER THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED $50 USD OR THE AMOUNT YOU HAVE PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Hinds County, Mississippi.
